Performance Overview of Global Alternative Lending Solutions in Spain, Romania, the Czech Republic, and Mexico

As the first half of 2025 comes to a close and updated financials from global lending groups are released, we present a snapshot of some of the most dynamic alternative credit markets in Europe and the Americas.
This update summarizes financial results, traffic, loan product metrics, and performance trends across four key markets: Spain, Romania, the Czech Republic, and Mexico.
Spain
The alternative lending market in Spain comprises approximately 20 local and international operators. Leading players such as Moneyman and Vivus reported YoY growth in both revenue and net profit in 2024.
Key financial highlights:
Moneyman increased its revenue by nearly 25%, while net profit rose by about 23%.
Vivus reported ~18% revenue growth, with net profit up by 4%.
MyKredit, another major market player, saw a decline: revenue dropped by 6%, and net profit fell sharply by nearly 89% for the 2023 fiscal year.
Top players by web traffic in Mar-May 2025 include MyKredit – 1.68M visits, Smartcredito – 1M, and Moneyman – 919K visits. Both Moneyman and Vivus support Android and iOS apps, each with approx. 1M Android installs.

Romania
In Romania, Provident Financial leads in total revenue, reaching RON 562M, although its growth has stalled with a 2% CAGR. In contrast, Hora Credit has emerged as a high-growth challenger, scaling from RON 17.7M to RON 284.5M in six years, representing a CAGR of 59%, the highest among all market participants. Viva Credit completes the top three with RON 195.8M in revenue in 2024.
Hora Credit also demonstrated strong profit growth, from RON 4M in 2018 to RON 99.9M in 2024. Other consistently profitable players include Provident, Viva Credit, and BT Direct.
Among mid-tier alternative lenders, Viaconto shows steady performance with a 40% CAGR. In contrast, some players have shown stagnation or contraction. TBI Money, for example, declined from over RON 180M to just RON 1.2M.
Most smaller players operate with inconsistent or negative profitability, with only a few exceptions. Mozipo, Viaconto, and Flex Financial have demonstrated modest but stable performance, although still below market benchmarks in terms of scale and resilience.

The Czech Republic
Due to the limited availability of full-year 2024 data, the analysis here is based on the 2020-2023 period.
The top 5 companies by revenue CAGR (2020-2023) include CFIG Credit, COOL CREDIT, Creditstar, SWISS FUNDS, and CREDIT EASY.
The five leading companies by net profit in 2023 comprises of Home Credit (CZK 238.2M), Zaplo Finance (CZK 139.2M), ACEMA Credit (CZK 137.6M), Creamfinance Czech (CZK 130.2M), and FlexiFin (CZK 115.2M).
Web traffic leaders in Mar-May 2025 are Home Credit (554K visits), FlexiFin (401K), and Zaplo Finance (206K), indicating strong customer acquisition through a balanced product offer and client trust.
